Authorised Economic Operator status here we come…

It’s been a busy few months here at United Worldwide Logistics; our new premises at the Global Freight Village are taking shape, including our new secure warehousing facility but more about that in our next blog post.

Our key business focus this month is to complete our Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) assessment.

The Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) certificate is an internationally recognised quality mark indicating that your role in the international supply chain is secure, and that your customs controls and procedures are efficient and compliant.

There are three main AEO certificates:

  • Customs Simplifications – where operators benefit from simplified customs rules.
  • Security and Safety– where operators benefit from smoother and faster customs controls regarding security and safety of goods entering or leaving the customs territory of the Community.
  • Customs Simplifications/Security and Safety – a combination of one and two above or full AEO Status as it is known.

United Worldwide Logistics is being assessed for the Full Customs Simplifications/Security and Safety AEOF status.  The AEO assessment at the moment is a voluntary process which involves rigid and intensive checks of systems, staff and business procedures.

What will United’s AEO status mean for our customers?

AEO status gives quicker access to certain simplified customs procedures and in some cases the right to ‘fast-track’ your shipments through certain HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) safety and security procedures. Basically the shipments that we manage for you will have priority and will be fast tracked through Customs.

When will we achieve AEO status?

The AEO officers have been busy checking through all of our operating procedures, safety and security procedures and we are confident that when we open the doors of our new offices in early Summer that we will be able to announce our new AEO status too.
